The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program’s (OINP) Entrepreneur Stream helps individuals from countries outside of Canada to implement a new business idea or buy an existing business in Ontario. It also offers entrepreneurs the opportunity to be nominated for permanent resident status once their business has been successfully established in Ontario. You may be eligible for this program if you have a viable business activity that will bring significant economic benefit to Ontario. If approved, you may apply for a temporary work permit in order to establish your business. Once your business has been successfully established, you may be eligible for nomination by the OINP.

In order to apply to the OINP-B, a prospective applicant must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) and receive an invitation from the OINP-B to apply. The EOI is an official submission which will become a part of an applicant’s future Nomination Application. Periodically the OINP-B will select the highest scoring applicants from the EOI pool and issue them an Invitation to Apply (ITA). The OINP-B will regularly conduct draws to invite candidates from the selection pool for each category to apply. The number and frequency of invitations to apply is based on annual nomination allocations and the OINP-B’s processing capacity to ensure timely processing of applications.

The most recent OINP-B Entrepreneur pool draw was conducted on May 5, 2017 with 22 ITA’s issued and a lowest selection score of 120.

We put together a summary of the round of invitations during 2016/2017, along with the number of candidates that will get an Invitation to Apply (ITA). This summary report will give applicants an indication of their potential for receiving an ITA in the future. An applicant may strive to further increase their points, such as conducting an Exploratory Visit to Ontario or enhancing their language proficiency through language training.
